Wanted: An author to my blog

Because I don't want to forget moments like these...

I need new years to come so I can make this be a resolution... (it's illegal to make a resolution before the new year, right?) I really need to start to post, I still have first day of school, all of summer... yikes! For now, a few cute ones for a taste of our fall.

The difference two months makes

The contrast between the end of March and the end of May is vast (and WELCOME). Hello summer! Aidan finished up his last day of kindergarten today! What an amazing school year it turned out to be. Owen will begin preschool in the fall while Aidan starts first grade. Sheesh.

I've been so behind with keeping the blog up because we have been busy having so much fun... I finally imported my photos onto my computer from Easter... little behind in that department.

Here is me catching up through pictures! (and a little explanation to begin to explain what you are seeing)

Aidan with his wonderful teacher... giving her his card that he made telling her how much he enjoyed her class. He has grown so much this year in so many ways... sigh.

And the boys decided they wanted to paint today after we returned from our bike ride and they were too hot and tired for any more outdoor activities. I had the easel in the sunroom because I was thinking of taking it to work for the kids I work with because it hasn't gotten much use lately. I changed my mind... and i like it in the sunroom too. What an excellent place for creating!

Aidan deciding he is not quite sprinkler ready. He stood inside the door frame and watched Owen break in the sprinkler.

And Owen cooling off sans his brother.

So, a little catch up tease. Hopefully there will be less time between posts next time. We are loving bike riding this year as we purchased all new bikes. The boys have their own bikes, but we also purchased tag a long bikes that attach to our bikes and we have already been having so much fun with them. Owen and I took a fall the other day. He won't ride with me now. Only dad. I'll have to try to somehow capture our bike rides in pictures too, I think that is how we will be spending much of our summer! (AND... wow, I am so excited about my bike!! It is just beautiful... I think I will do a whole post in ode to its beauty!) Happy (almost) summer!

Out like a lamb?

Our spring started with a major snow storm. Schools closed for the two days before spring break started so the kids are getting an EXTRA long "spring" break. We have had fun in spite of the weather. The cousins came over for sledding and hot cocoa- but there was too much fun for pictures that day. Today, we went to the state park and went for a snowy walk and came back for some more sledding. Take that silly spring weather!

Checking out the hill to conquer...
Does this picture make anyone else dizzy? Odd perspective I guess...
I missed their faces and they were priceless... A had a look of delight. O had a look of panic!
My boys!
They keep surprising me with their personalities... A was the dare devil today. O asked if we could walk on the sledding trail to make it slower. It was pretty fast today, the snow is melting just a smidge to make the pass quick!

And... that is a lot of work for a wee little guy!
Happy Spring!

Big Birthday Boy

My dear silly birthday boy is four years old! And, my, how he has grown. He has gone through a bit of an identity crisis toward the end of this third year. We have been discussing what it entails to be a big boy, mostly based around the fact that four year olds just don't use pacifiers. Owen has continued to use a pacifier when he sleeps at night, and the idea of giving that comfort up was pretty traumatizing. However, after much discussion, the big boy threw his pacifiers away. And, has not turned back. He is grieving some, but mostly has worked through this transition quite smoothly. We are very proud.
Here is some pictures of my little guy that is not so little any more!

Waiting for the guests to arrive, and talking in a Buzz Lightyear voice.

Here it is... getting rid of the pacifier!!

Here's just a cute posed picture.

And the blowing out of the candles.... "I wish to be three so I can keep the pacifier!"
Happy birthday little man! We love you so much!

I am thankful for...

Apples! (Aidan's answer in the Thanksgiving program at his school). His "special day" at school was the day before Thanksgiving break, and that means he gets to bring in a snack and an item from home (this week something that he is thankful for) to share. He was pretty set on the fact that apples (and not the computer, just so we're clear, he is referring to the fruit) is what he is thankful for. He decided after much conversation... "I guess I am thankful for my brother too. He's always around to play with me." So, he took a picture of he and his brother to share at school. Here's the picture he took:

His special day was going well until... while getting off the bus to daycare after his special day was complete, the threw up. Its really awful as a mom to think of him sitting miserable on a bus not sure of what to do. He has played out the story for us a couple of times...it was obviously a bit traumatic for him. "I tried to make it off the bus, but I just didn't," (he says slowly and disappointedly shaking his head). So, he has had the flu for this thanksgiving. WE are thankful that it seems to have been a very mild stomach flu, and we were still able to feast! Even he tried a bit of turkey.

I am so thankful for my little guys! And my big guy! and mom (who even braved the flu to be thankful with us!) and sis and family and friends! Happy Thanksgiving!

Owen: "Am I perfect? Is that why you bought me?"

YES!!
Here is the charmer feeding his monkey at the table. He put the monkey in his chair, got him his own fork, and fed him. Awww....
